Hi BrokenSphere -- we are excited to have Battle Angel Alita Wiki as part of the Wikia community!

Starting a new wiki can be a big job, but don't worry, the Wikia Community Team is here to help! We have put together a few guides to getting started. They say imitation is the best form of flattery so absolutely check out other wikis on Wikia for ideas on layout, ways to organize your content, etc. We are all one big family at Wikia and the most important thing is to have fun!

New LogoEdit

Request for help Edit

Hi BrokenSphere. I just approved your request, and I'm here to follow up with you. You mentioned that you had ideas for the main page, so please share those with me on my talk page. In order to attract more editors, I would also recommend a custom background and logo. I can start on a logo now using a font similar to this cover and/or this cover. For the wiki background, if you know of any large image(s) that you would like to be used, please link me to it/them. If not, I'll see what I can find on the web. Yeah I can add the wings. They weren't on that logo I made because I made it from scratch. I grabbed the wings from the 2nd issue cover and added them to the previous logo. Check it out:

~~Check out this new preview using those suggestions you mentioned.~~ Nevermind, I just realized that I forgot to crop out some of the original image on the left image. Me = FAIL, heh. I'll fix that and have the real new preview ready as soon as I can. If I don't do it over the weekend (I work M-F), to make up for thinking I was done when I wasn't, then I'll have it done early Monday. Here's the correct new preview with the left image's background fully cropped, and with it moved to the left as you suggested. I'll be back to work tomorrow (Monday) to wrap up the wiki background and start working on the other things. JoePlay

As you requested, I uploaded the background from the newest preview (as you can see). I also uploaded a favicon made from Alita's head as it appears in the image on the right side of the background. Favicons can take up to 24 hours to update (on the browser tab), but you see the image now here. Also, if you want to "lock" the background so that it doesn't scroll with page, let me know and I'll add the line of CSS code to do it. JoePlay

I think that spot was from the dark shading on her forehead from the original image. I manually tweaked it and uploaded a new version here. Compare it with the previous one. If you want to try touching up the favicon yourself, the free program I used is IcoFX. About the black border, it's only one pixel wide, so it can't be made any smaller, but it can be removed if you want. JoePlay

By "lock it in" do you mean just keep this background, or do you mean lock the image's position so it doesn't scroll with the page? I can easily do that if you want. JoePlay

Locked background position = done. As for SEO, I just checked the wiki's current google rank for those three keywords/phrases you listed using a Firefox plug-in called Rank Checker (for non-personalized results). The ranks it shows are close to what you stated originally: "Battle Angel Alita" = 8 (near bottom of first page), "Battle Angel" = 14 (middle of second page), and "Gunnm" = 22 (near top of third page). Looking at the main page, I can see that what you're currently doing is good for SEO (main topics are linked to and the links are bold). To improve the rank for "Gunnm", you might want to try adding "Gunnm" to the "Another Stories" link and see if the wiki's rank for that keyword rises over time. Also, I've heard that having a lot of links on the main page can hurt your rank, so my only other suggestion would be to remove the animangafooter template, since there are a LOT of links on it, and see if that helps the rank for those keywords/phrases over time. Yeah it would be unfortunate that many of those wikis have that footer on their main page, IF it's actually bad for SEO. Like I said, it's just something I've heard. I haven't seen any solid evidence. If you remove the footer and don't see any improvement in your google rank after a significant amount of time (a month or so I guess), then that rumor might be false, and you might as well put the footer back. SEO is a very tricky thing, and only Google themselves know exactly what helps and what doesn't, and they aren't sharing that secret unfortunately. JoePlay

The only other suggestions I have would be to create pages for the broken/red links on the main page - Ashen Victor, Other Media, etc. Also, it might be a good idea to add more Battle Angel content links to MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation. Currently half of the menus are for pages that aren't directly about Battle Angel. If you could get all those non-content links down to one drop down menu and fill the other 3 with missing content links, such as Gunnm Other Stories, locations, organizations, etc., I think that would be more helpful for visitors navigating the wiki. Change of structure Edit

Hi, I'm Marcaurelix. I have a question. Would it be ok that in the pages with characters and subjects that appear in both BAA and LO, we could differentiate between Battle Angel Alita, the Original Ending, and Last Order, instead of just BAA and LO. I think that this structure will be more accessable to other people.

For example, in the History section of a character, it would have the following structure:

History

and under history

Battle Angel Alita

Original Ending

Last Order

Hunger Games wiki blockEdit

EHmmm hi, you blocked my IP on HG wiki. My brother made the two new accounts (The King Squire and The King Squire 2 for another wiki). Yeh and my sister made her account (FantasyDreamer). Yeh, I really wanna be unblocked as I love THG wiki. I have been there 7 months, and I just dont wanna be stopped from editing my games. Please. I just got them to vote in a poll, well my brother since my sister actually wants to join. Can you please sort this, as I have been a constant editor for ages. Please.

Hello BrokenSphere I am very disappointed that you had to step down from THG Wiki to do other wikis. I know have a general idea that you are the only one working on this wiki (excuse me if I am wrong) I just only see you editing. So I was wondering if their is anything I can do to help you here :).
